Changes to the Microsoft Office 365 Email service (Resolved)

  • Microsoft has announced that from October 1, 2019, it will disable support for the old security protocols TLS 1.0 and 1.1 for Office 365.  TLS is the protocol used to encrypt mail over the network. Microsoft will require organisations to use version 1.2 to improve security.

    INVIDIA customers using the Microsoft Office 365 platform will be affected by this implementation. We are therefore providing this advice to ensure all customers have the opportunity to be compliant.  TLS 1.2 was released in 2011 so any relatively new computers, operating systems and email clients should not notice any difference once the change is implemented. However, older equipment using any of the older software listed below may need to utilise the Web interface for email, https://outlook.office365.com until an upgrade can be undertaken:

    ·         Windows Vista and older

    ·         Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks and older

    ·         Outlook 2010 or older

    ·         iOS 5 or older

    ·         Android 4.3 or older

    Following the change, combinations of operating system and browsers and/or email clients that are unable to use TLS 1.2 or later will not be able to connect to Office 365.

    Customers who believe they may be impacted by this change should speak to their IT support service provider and make arrangements for any necessary upgrades to take place as soon as possible. Please note that INVIDIA does not provide customers with general IT support and will not be able to assist with any upgrades to your equipment or software.
